Our Work in the World
Serving others (being Christ’s heart and hands in the world) is fundamental to our identity as Christians. Therefore, we at Christ Church actively serve Christ by giving our time, talents and financial support to those in need both within and beyond our parish.
Our focus has been on feeding, children’s, and housing ministries and services to the elderly. We have hands-on group service, a variety of collections throughout the year and grants to several agencies.
Our parishioner’s hands-on ministries extend through the year and include:
-
Weekly banana delivery to Cameron Community Ministries
-
Weekly food for the Pittsford Food Cupboard, especially breakfast cereal. We also have parishioners who volunteer weekly.
-
We provide weekly tutoring at School #9 through the Adopt-A-Classroom program housed at St. Paul’s Rochester.
-
Every other month our parishioners prepare and serve lunch at A Meal and More, a soup kitchen located in at Christ Church, Rochester.
-
Four times a year we prepare and serve a Sunday Celebration dinner at Cameron Community Ministries.
-
We participate in hosting of RAIHN (Rochester Area Interfaith Housing Network) at First Presbyterian Church, Pittsford, four times a year. This was our first full year with this program and participation continues to grow.
