As a parish, the aim of Christ Church is to connect to God, to one another, and to our own best selves through a stimulating blend of open and lively theological discussion and traditional worship.

Sunday School

Sunday School & Child Care

During our 10:00 a.m. service, Christ Church offers Sunday School for children from age 3 (Pre-K) through high school. Our goal is to help children build a foundation of Christian faith and create a welcoming home within the church community.

Two paid nursery staff lovingly take care of our infants through two years old during the 10:00 a.m. service.

Our Pre-K students follow a "circle time" format to provide structure to their classroom experience. Through stories, wondering, crafts and games, they learn that they are loved by God as they explore lessons of the Bible.

The Kindergarten & 1st Grade class is introduced to the Godly Play curriculum. While hearing the sacred stories of the Old and New Testament, the Parables of Jesus, and liturgical stories, children begin to develop a sense of wonder and inquiry about God and their faith.

The 2nd & 3rd Grade class travels through the Old and New Testaments over the course of the year, discovering Bible truths through stories, videos, and delightful crafts and activities.

The 4th & 5th Grade class uses interactive activities to complement Bible stories from the weekly lectionary. All students are given Bibles to use during class which are theirs to keep when they complete fifth grade.

Youth classes move toward a more discussion-based format as they make the transition from childhood to early adulthood and learn to relate their faith to their lives.

  • Our Middle School class (6th-8th grade) tackles topics about the Bible, the Creed, discipleship, Jesus, other beliefs, and some of the "tough questions" of faith. The class also meets some of our Biblical ancestors to find out how they were just like us.

  • Our Senior High class (9th-12th grade) uses a varied and exciting combination of liturgical-based lessons, current events, and topical studies. The teens are actively involved and help shape the program.

All children pre-K and up come into the sanctuary for Holy Communion each week. During most Sundays, our Pre-K through 8th grade students gather for music after Holy Communion.

Holidays and Summer Workshops

On holiday weekends and during the summer, we offer children’s workshops in lieu of Sunday School classes. The workshops are a "one-room schoolhouse" for children from Pre-K through 5th grade, with middle and high school youth serving as assistants.

Are You Called to Teach Our Children?

More than 40 dedicated volunteers guide our children throughout the school year. New adults and older youth are always welcome to join the volunteer team. A background in theology or education is not needed; we provide volunteers with lessons and support.
