Dear People of Christ Church,

The last two and a half years of the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted Christ Church Pittsford’s patterns and programs. It was necessary at the time, but I think it was detrimental to our faith. In the beginning of the pandemic, we had to make do with recorded services. Church is really, however, about the people.

We flourish as a parish when we are a Spiritual Family. We are embodied, flesh and blood, and we want to see and interact with our fellow parishioners. The streaming service will continue, but we are bringing back many of the in-person traditions that made Christ Church a special place, such as Sunday School, Youth Group, Virtuosi, the adult choir, and Christ Church Reads the Bible. You will find even more to look forward to in this Enlightener. In October we will have listening sessions for Shaping the Future of Christ Church. I believe that we cannot just return to pre-pandemic ways of church, even if we do not exactly know what has changed.

We need to reengage our congregation, while keeping our people safe. Each parishioner, younger or older, is precious as a part of the whole. If you have not been back to church in person for a while, I invite you to come back in September. We will bless children and youth backpacks on September 11 at the 10:00 am service, and on September 25 we will celebrate the opening of a new program year with a picnic, the Magic Guy, and a dunk tank.

I understand that some people cannot come back into church because they are in a high-risk category. Ron and David Jutsum, our seminarian, can do pastoral calls and bring Holy Communion. We are very happy to do this. Please contact the office if you would like a visit: or 585-586-1226.
