Christ Church Pittsford Calls a new Rector

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Search Committee and Vestry of our parish, we are delighted to inform you that we have called The Reverend Kevin Gore to be the next rector of Christ Church Pittsford. Kevin’s first day in the office will be January 13, 2025 and his first Sunday with us will be January 19, which falls on the Martin Luther King holiday weekend and which seems like a particularly fitting time for us all to commence a new ministry here, in service to the community and world around us.

We want to sincerely thank each member of our Search Committee, chaired by Megan Vaules and Jim Willer, all of whom worked tirelessly and with great integrity over the past year to identify highly qualified candidates that ultimately resulted in us being led to Kevin. We also want you to know that

the Vestry voted unanimously to accept the wholehearted recommendation of the committee to hire Kevin as our next rector.

And we want to thank Julianne for her skillful leadership and abiding support throughout this process. We are enormously grateful that Julianne has kindly agreed to extend her contract with us through December 31. We thank Kevin for responding yes to this call! In the short time we have known him, Kevin has been gracious, faithful, thoughtful and highly collaborative. He is warm and

engaging, and he has a wonderful sense of humor. We truly believe you are going to love him, we already do!

Thank you for your patience, confidence and support throughout this time of transition and for warmly welcoming Kevin and his beautiful family to our parish family.

With Thanks to God,

Daryl Sharp and Pat Morrow

The Reverend Kevin Gore comes to Christ Church from St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jonesboro, AR, where he has served as rector since March of 2021.  Originally from Oregon, Fr. Kevin received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a minor in Music from the University of Oregon in 2007. After college, he entered the business world, working for Symantec Corp for 8 years in Springfield, Oregon, serving in many roles, including contract compliance, customer care, and vendor support. In 2015, he began seminary in Berkeley, CA, at Church Divinity School of the Pacific and earned his Master of Divinity in 2018.

Having experience ranging from a Baptist upbringing to spending his second year of seminary in Oxford, UK, assisting at a Church of England parish, Fr. Kevin has a wide breadth of religious experience. He is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Ministry program through The University of the South, known as Sewanee.  The D.Min. is focused on liturgy, which is a particular passion of his.  Within the breadth of the Anglican identity, Fr. Kevin enjoys a range of liturgical expressions and appreciates that everyone worships differently, and the ultimate goal of liturgy is to find ways for everyone to enter into a relationship with God through the sacraments and prayer. Fr. Kevin also has a passion for Christian education and formation, emphasizing different styles of engagement with catechism, adult education, baptism preparation, and acolyte training.

Fr. Kevin is married to The Reverend Annie Jones, a priest originally from the Diocese of Iowa, and together they have seven children, from a sophomore in college to 20-month-old twins, and a Great Dane named Sampson.  Kevin and his entire family enjoy music in all forms, and frequently find the children singing everything from church hymns to pieces from the Sound of Music.  Annie was a trumpet player in her school days and Kevin was also a brass player in college, on trumpet and tuba, while also learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipes. Kevin and Annie are particularly excited for all the musical opportunities for the children in the greater Rochester area! They also enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking, and home brewing, among many other interests, but most waking moments of free time involve chasing toddlers. Together, they look forward to what God has in store for the years ahead as they settle into The Diocese of Rochester and make their new home

with you!
